So my roots keep showing up....

..well, yeah - the darkish, grayish hairline thing because I haven't gotten into the hair place..(salon? beauty place? shop? What do you call it? Discuss amongst yourselves...) - well, I haven't had my hairs did (as they say around these parts) for a bit and I'm due.

But that's not my point. Which I'll get to now, because again, it makes it so much more interesting for the reader.

My roots as in, my family! Yes, I had more family to visit last week from the snowy midwest, and more friends/family are coming in next weekend, and then super grandson visits in March and some MORE family from Mr. Lulu's side of the tree come in early April.....shwewwwww.....

So we had a great time, ate too much, no addies but lots of adult bevvies, we laughed and watched the Olympics and I put a song earworm on all of them....the Canadian national anthem has been stuck in my head since the opening ceremonies so I thought I'd better share. I'm bilingual after all - hey I speak Canadia, eh? - and we also have Canadian relatives, so I thought it was the right thing to do.

Ohhhh....CAAAANAdaaahhhh....glooooreeUS and FREEEEEEEE.....

Yeah, I won't quit my day job to hit the Idol circuit just yet.

AND I'm loyal to the U.S. still - I just appreciate the Canadians as well. No other two countries in the world have such a long border while also having such a good relationship. Yeah.

....we stand on GUAAARRRDD for THEEEEEEEE!!!

HEY - yes, I'm yelling, too much oatmeal and coffee, more on that later - did you notice that OTT is back? Over there, under OTT Adventures on the side...yeah, scroll down a bit...yeah, right there. I thought I'd lost him! But he turned up and he's all excited about the US. in the Olympics as well and there he is, standing on guard for MEEEEE....

Also, a new MORE magazine Reinvention topic - these are pieces written by real people. Our own Jo from The Fifty Factor had a piece published here not long ago, so please check it out.

Well, you have your homework, now get to it!

Happy Week!

Rainy Days on Sundays...

ummm...don't actually get me down. And yes, I know that I'm taking liberties with the actual song.

If you didn't understand that about the song, you're prolly not my age or around my age or just sort of near my age-ish, and that's ok but I'm not going to 'splain.

My decksters will know.

Whewwwww....so busy again! But I'm POSTing right? After all it is 2010, as I was reminded earlier :).

Went to visit my mom for her 87th birthday last weekend and she's pretty sparky and perky especially for her age so that gives me hope for my longevity. But she doesn't drink so I have to figure something out there....

My NewYear's weekend with MFT and other friends was funfilled, plumjammy-packed with hilarity and adult bevvies so I've needed to have a big rolling pin mashed down my middle to squeeze it all out so I can go back to work and be all corporatey.

So.

There it is.

The early January details.

You're welcome.

Cowboy Girls

So myfriendTeri (who's still on her flight here) always wanted to be a cowboygirl when she grew up. Not a cowgirl......a cowboy girl. She thought 'cowboy' was non-gender specific, like president or teacher or doctor or stripper or porn star or blogger. Whatev.

And I always wanted red cowboy boots - beautiful! Second only to the midcalf, white baton twirler boots with the tassle. Neither of which I ever got for Christmas......hence my grinchee attitude.

Anyway - what better sign that we were meant to be BFF?

So - while the theme - because we all know how I feel about party themes - for our NYE get-together is 'Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy,' the subtheme is 'Suck it, Pleasantville Housewives - the Cowboy Girl Bitches will Ride tonight!!'*

*shouted many times while ingesting adult bevvies...talk about addies!!

MFT's birthday is tomorrow - more details to come!

Dancing with the Starfish

So dinner for my work peeps was really great, actually.  We laughed and had some good food and a fair amount of adult bevvies - although not too many, everyone was safe to drive - and it was good!

I am really lucky to be surrounded by a fabulous team of people who work hard AND smart, and they make a difference in the lives of everyone at work while consistently making me look good.  I tell them so all the time, and try to give them credit wherever I can, especially outside of my department.

So no drama or puking or stolen silverware - just fun and teasing and food and drink.

Plus - we had a dance contest during our staff meeting.  Ok - during a break in our staff meeting, in the event that anyone from the Huge is reading this post.

Y'all, you haven't lived until you've seen my dance team rock a gangsta hiphop version of the Chicken Dance - or The Angry Chicken, as it came to be known.  Deckster sweet!  All the judges were laughing so hard they simultaneously blew cafeteria coffee out their noses.

Perfect score, three tens - take that, Len Goodman!

Work karma, yo - pay it forward.

Lulu's Baaaaack!!!

hi hi Hi Hi HI HI HIHIHIHIHIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!
Hellooooooooo......

I'm back, all you deckster hippy blogsters and twitters :)!

After utilizing every current form of transportation known to mankind - except for a rickshaw and a glider - I'm home after 8 days of living out of a suitcase.

Planes, rental cars, trains, subways, taxis, a ferry, a bus and my own legs - walking ACROSS THE BROOKLYN BRIDGE no less - all moved me about in various cities and states and locations.  I worked, I met, I conferenced, I ate, I drank adult bevvies, I had addies, I shopped, I walked and rode and drove and flew.

But no blogging.  I could see all y'all, but couldn't comment or post to my own blog - sooooo very frustrating!  The IT department at Huge McNormous is gooood.  And I'm not complaining really - I'm glad that they're protecting me from viruses and evil spammers and the potential that someone will steal my computer and download porn (really.  that's one of their biggest fears.)  - it's just that I feel really far behind, and need to get caught up out there in cyberspace.

Unfortunately, I won't have a lot of time this week, as I'm hosting my entire staff at my home tomorrow night for a department dinner so I'm cleaning and polishing and dusting.  At least all the places that someone is likely to see......my husband thinks I should just clean the kitchen and the bathroom because those are the only places that people hang out during dinner.  But I'LL know that it's dusty in the corners of the upstairs bedroom and it will bug me.

Also, in-laws coming at the end of the week for a week - cleaning needs ramped up even more.

But I'm back!  I'm coming to comment on your blogs!  Please give me a shout-out to let me know that you're still with me!!!
